There are tons of geek girls around the web as many of you reading this post probably already know. It wasn’t until I started this blog and Dee hopped on that I began to realize just how extensive and awesome that network was, and best of all, how supportive it is. If I could, I’d make up a list of every single one of you geek women out there who support Girls Read Comics Too (and you guys, as well!).
As it is, I’m going make up a list of my favorite geek girl sites out there, ones Dee and I visit often. These women are friends, supporters, and some of the best people on the web. Give their sites a visit if you haven’t already, you won’t regret it.
I’m also going to pose a question to all of you out there, as I can never have enough blogs in my Girl Geeks folder in my RSS Reader: What are your favorite Girl Geek sites?
Run by Loquacious Muse, ATF have become some of my favorite ladies on the web, whom I’m proud to call friends. They also run the annual Fangirl Awards, which are always loads of fun.
There’s not much I can say that the title doesn’t already. A blog dedicated entirely to the powerful women of the DC universe, it’s a fantastic women-friendly place to discuss our favorite heroines.
One of my favorite sites over the years, TDF has a great mix of every aspect of geek culture. Movie news, book reviews, the occasional celebration of man candy – anything you want, you can find!
The main reason I love FF so much is the way they approach discussions on a variety of topics. Everyone has their own viewpoint, and expresses it. Comics, books, art, they talk about it all, and it’s always interesting to not only read, but I always have fun whenever I jump in on the comments.
If you want some insightful discussions, look no further than Girls Gone Geek. They’re there for those days when you feel like dissecting pop culture and what it means to women, and also for those days you want to celebrate them. I always love visiting when I’m in the mood for thinky thoughts.
This is a bit of a selfish one, I’ll admit! My friend Anita came up with an idea for a blog where we talk about the TV we’re watching – and as someone who watches a lot of TV, I jumped in on it right away. We have tons of fun with our recaps; sometimes it’s an insightful look at an episode, sometimes you just have to squee about your favorite TV couple.
This is pretty much the hub for Jill, aka The Nerdy Bird, who is pretty well known around the geek girl circuit – she writes for MTV and Newsarama, as well as contributes to various sites.
Kind of your one stop shop for all the nerd news, reviews and interviews you can handle, NiB is one of my favorites. They’ve always been extremely supportive of us as well, which Dee and I are grateful for.
Thank you for the kind words and support! This made my day. We love our fellow fangirls.
Thanks for the list! I too can never have too many geek girl blogs to read.
Wonderful list! Great to reach out to other female comic nerds. I’d love for you all to check out this article: http://lytherus.com/2010/12/09/seducing-the-ladies-marketing-comics-to-women/
Ok, so yeah I wrote it, but I truly do think its down your alley! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks again for the list! This is awesome.
Oh wow, that is a GREAT post! It’s a question I ask myself every once in a while when I look at Marvel’s marketing strategies and the lack of female-led comics.
