- Sleepy Hollow #1: I’m sorry, did you say TV Sleepy Hollow in comic book form, where it can be even crazier? Yes please and thank you!
- Death of Wolverine #4: Like Angel, I’m in this to see how it all ends.
- Edge of Spider-Verse #5: I’m really enjoying seeing all the various Spider-(Wo)Men out there, and I might even be interested in the Edge of Spider-Verse event as a whole now. I’ve never been too much of a Spidey fan, but this seems like a fun way to dive in.
- Magneto #11: I’m a few issues behind on this, but still pulling because I’m still waaaay invested in seeing how everything plays out. Magneto fascinates me.
- Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #6: I’m a few issues behind on this, only because I don’t like super long drawn out mysteries (WHAT ARE YOU, PETER?!), but this is still one of the best books out right now (and the only good Ultimate book, let’s be honest.)
- Ms. Marvel #9: Kamalaaaaaaa you’re so cute.
- Storm #4: I like where Storm seems to be going, and especially when the stories spend time both on her internal motives and external actions. Lots of nice action and seeing how Ororo ticks. Also, I’m prepared to be devastated at Ororo’s reaction to Logan’s death. I really loved them together.
- Death of Wolverine #4: I mostly just want to see how it ends. To be completely honest, I’m more interested in the Wolverines book that was announced this past weekend than in Wolverine himself at this point.
- Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #6: Despite my frustrations with how slow-going this book seems to be
plot-wise, it’s still one of my absolute favorite books right now. The slow-moving plot has made it difficult to give Bendis the benefit of the doubt when it comes to what the heck is going on with Peter Parker, but hopefully this issue will FINALLY give us some answers when it comes to that. I think I’ve just been wary since issue #1 that this book is about to marginalize Miles despite his name being in the title of it, and considering that this whole first arc has been significantly about Peter Parker’s past and Peter Parker’s villains, I’m hoping to be proven wrong. - Ms. Marvel #9: I feel like I say the same thing about this book every month, but it doesn’t stop being true. This book is an absolute delight, and so is Kamala.
- Sleepy Hollow #1: I don’t read a lot of BOOM! Studios books, though I’ve dipped into both Adventure Time and Lumberjanes. I’m already a fan of the television show, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how they translate this property into something that fits with BOOM’s brand. It seems like it could be a lot of fun.
- Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Witches #2: Kyla Vanderklugt is an amazing artist. Combine that with the fact that it is October and the solicit seems to suggest the book with pretty much all art and viola! Two Boom books on my pull list!
- Lumberjanes #7: This series has the magical ability to make me nostalgic for summer camp and being a girl scout, two things that I never actually did. Which is badass and good because I’m pretty certain it wouldn’t have been half as enjoyable as this series.
- Fables #145: Real talk, there’s a 67% chance that in a moment of drunkeness it will occur to me to color in these covers. It will almost certainly not end well
- Supergirl #35: I’m going to keep reading this series until it’s 2011 again and Kara is back to being BFF4L with Stephanie Brown. Anyone want to take odds on the chances of that?
- Avengers and X-Men Axis #2: Real talk, I might give up on caring about this series in about two issues. However, I will keep reading it, so it will keep being on this list. Plus it helps me keep track of what is supposedly eating the Marvel mainstream universe from the inside out…
- Loki Agent of Asgard #7: Hey Loki, what’s up. You’re kind of having a No Good, Very Bad (for you, not in terms of quality writing) Run of Things. Don’t worry dear, I’m enjoying the hell of the meta storytelling crazy spin that’s happening. It’s great.
- Death of Wolverine #4: Like Angel, I’m just reading this to see where it goes. It’s kind of like watching a weird wreck is slo-motion. Will one of the most recognizable X-Men actually die and then stay dead? I say it’s doubtful at best.
- Ms. Marvel #9: LOCKJAW AND KAMALA. Two things that I fervently adore, IN ONE BOOK. It could just be them eating popcorn and watching a movie and it would still probably be my favorite book out this week. But it also has the Inhumans which is also fun.
- Edge of Spider-Verse #5: I’ve mostly been dipping in and out of this, but I’ve heard good things about Gerard Way’s comics, so I’m going to give this one a look-see.
- Loki, Agent of Asgard #7: Last issue was a great ride, a phenomenal Doom-Loki
showdown using the idea of gods-as-stories from previous runs. Such a relief to have this title free of crossovers ag- what’s that? AXIS? Already? CAN NO LOKI TITLE ESCAPE THE NEVERENDING CROSSOVERS CURSE. - Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #6: I re-read the first five issues of this the other weekend, and it’s a really fun read, which can be easy to forget when you’re reading each issue the first time in a rush to get to the answers if they’re in there. There’s a fair amount going on, but hopefully, y’know… there are some conclusions coming, if not to everything than to that one thing. I guess this issue is coming out just in time for January solicits to announce Peter Parker: The Ultimate Captain America. (I’d rather it be Jessica Drew: The Ultimate Black Widow, but ’tis a hopeless dream.)
- Ms Marvel #9: The only book that will get me to care about the whole new Inhumans bit. And mostly I just care about the Lockjaw team-up.
- New Avengers #25: “Good luck with your genocide.”
- Superior Foes of Spider-Man #16: TWO ISSUES REMAIN. Taken too soon.
- Batman and Robin #35: This book has been a favourite for a long while, but I’m impatient for this arc to end, just to see where we’re standing on the ‘is Damian staying dead’ front.
- Daredevil #9: After a long and relatively joyful run, Waid’s finally taking us back to the dark tone most commonly
associated with the character. Last month’s issue was chilling and disturbing in turns, making it a seasonally appropriate arc. - Loki: Agent of Asgard #7: Everything was coming up Doom last month, and AXIS crossover aside, I’m still digging what Ewing’s bringing to this book.
- Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #6: I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF IT’S REALLY PETER OR NOT.
- Ms. Marvel #9: The first trade of Ms. Marvel is coming out this week, so if you’ve holding back on trying a new character, now’s your chance to catch up!
- New Avengers #25: Ditto what Scott said. “Good luck with your genocide.”
- Original Sin Annual #1: I really loved this event, from start to finish, so naturally I’ll be picking up the annual.
- Superior Foes of Spider-Man #16: I just hope this book is collected in one big omnibus, ’cause hoo boy, does it deserve the fancy treatment.
