What We’re Reading Wednesday

Wednesday! Glorious comic book day! Check out our post to see what we’re looking forward to reading this week, and let us know what you’re picking up as well.

Our pick of this light week:

Saga_24-1Saga #24
Story: Brian K. Vaughan
Art: Fiona Staples
Publisher: Image Comics

  • The Massive #28: Still a few issues behind, but I’m used to that with this title. I know what Elektra 7I have waiting in store for me is awesome, so I’m looking forward to when I can sit down and finish this Ragnarok storyline.
  • Bob’s Burgers #3: So much fun. SO much fun. It’s every bit as ridiculous and funny as the show, and it’s a good thing to have right now, because who has their season premiere and then NO NEW EPISODES FOR WEEKS?
  • Saga #24: Not caught up. Don’t want my heart ripped to shreds.
  • All-New X-Men #33: Another title I’m behind on. Remember when I had all that free time to read comics in the summer?
  • Elektra #7: Still one of my favorite titles, simply because of the art. I want to get some of the splash pages printed so I can hang them.

  • Saga #24: Hey look, it’s time to have my feelings completely stomped on again. Oh, ANXM 33Brian K. Vaughn, you make me cry every month and I always come back for more. This is turning into an abusive relationship.
  • All-New X-Men #33: Fun story: Ultimate X-Men #2 (volume 1) was the first Marvel comic I ever bought. So I’ve always felt a particular fondness towards the Ultimate universe and the X-Men of that universe in particular. I’m glad that we’re going to get to see some of them again, and can’t wait to see how they react to the young X-Men. Even if I don’t really get where this current story arc fits into Marvel continuity. (I guess before Wolverine dies, since the team is presumably back in 616 in Logan Legacy #2? Oh, comic books.)

  • Groo vs. Conan #4: This series has been an absolute joy to read Groo v Conanfrom the beginning, hopefully the ride can end strong.
  • Saga #24: I waver between being so glad that I finally caught up on this book and regretting it immensely.  Such pleasure, such pain.

And that’s it!  After the toll last week took on my wallet, I need a light Wednesday to recover; no complaints.

  • Saga_24-1Saga #24: It turns out a whole different heartbreaking thing happened than it seemed like! Oh dear. Anyway, The Brand! Time to get to know the Brand before tragedy inevitably strikes The Brand.
  • All-New X-Men #33: The Ultimate Universe tour continues! Who will stick around? Maybe no one. Maybe someone. Either way we ain’t finding out soon, so mostly I’m just in this one for the shenanigans.

…and that’s it for me. Wow. Light week.
