The Massive #29: One more month after this and then I can sit down with this whole arc and binge read the awesome.- ODY-C #1: You had me at Odyssey, genderbent, and Fraction. I’m trying not to get my expectations up too high, but I feel like Fraction is going to knock it out of the park no matter where they’re set.
- Cyclops #7: Just gonna shed a tear for Rucka’s perfect run.
- Superior Foes of Spider-Man #17: Why did I have to read all of this just to be there when it ends? Damn, this was a fun book.
- Letter 44 #12: Yaaaaay a space and aliens and politics and SPACE month!
- Pop #4: I really liked the first issue of this mini series, but subsequent issues fell off of my radar. I’ve caught up and read #2 and #3 recently and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it’s wrapped up.
- ODY-C #1: I’ve been looking forward to Fraction and
Beardy McTraitorson’s genderbent outer space version of Homer’s The Odyssey ever since it was first announced, and I have really high hopes for it. And I can’t wait to see what this eight page fold out business is about, because it seems insane in the absolute best way. - Cyclops #7: New writer! I’m really hoping that John Layman keeps up Rucka’s momentum on this title, because it’s been one of my favorites.
- Scarlet Spiders #1: Still just dipping my toe into Spider-Verse, but Amazing Spider-Man #10 did a great job of setting up the tie-in books and making this event easier to follow that I thought it’d be. I’m not a big fan of Paco Diaz’s art, but I’m willing to give this a shot anyway.
- Just the Tips: Does this count as being on my pull list? Everyone should buy this anyway.
My main comics related goal for this week is to find a stack of Thanksgiving themed scenes, preferably from the 80s/90s and binge read them. That being said, I’ll still be picking up a few wayward things before the snow crushes down on us over here.
- Manhattan Projects #25: I love this book. I really do. One of
these days I will say more about it than this blurb, but alas. - ODY-C #1: This is where the tithing to the Fraction-deConnick household becomes a very real thing. I’m just excited about this. Hopefully it does not disappoint!
- Nova #24: I LOVE NOVA. There, I said it. I just caught up in a massive binge read and I stand by that I love him. He doesn’t know his place in the universe, but that place is mostly in space, so I’m on board. YAY!
- New Avengers #27: Will kind of be all over the place, but in a good way. In a way I want more of and also probably less of.
- Usagi Yojimbo: Senso #5: Let the trauma continue.
- Red Sonja: The Black Tower #3: I was pretty turned off by the last issue of this, heavy as it was with telling-not-showing the actual action in favour of naked c
hicks standing around being groped, but then THAT INSANE CLIFFHANGER, HAHAHAHA I AM SO ON BOARD. - Judge Dredd #25: So much went down last month compared to the last few issues, hoping that continues here, because it was GREAT.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters #2: The first issue did a great job of introducing a very large cast very quickly while keeping it engaging, never feeling like a waste of time, and I’m super eager to see the story get properly under way.
- Lazarus #13: Last month’s break from the action was a really neat change of pace, so much so that I’m not even all that eager to get back to the grind? Which is probably the wrong response, whatever, I’m sure it’ll be great.
- Trees #7: What a weird, wonderful little ride this comic is.
- New Avengers #27: 26 was… a hell of a thing. 27 has the Black Priests on the cover, so maybe we’re back to whatever nuttiness Doctor Strange is up to? It’s probably nutty!
- ODY-C #1: I’m a fan of Odysseus, conceptually, as the Greek hero who’s all about the
being smarter. So a genderswitched version by Matt Fraction? Hell yes I’m here for this. If it weren’t for Superior Foes’ swan song being this week, it would’ve been a shoe-in for my pick. - Scarlet Spiders #1: I am a huge fan of Ultimate Jessica Drew and really dug the recent Scarlet Spider series with Kaine, so I’m looking forward to this team-up. Clone shenanigans! And also an alternate Ben Reilly is there too, but let’s face it, he’s going to die. Kaine has plot significane as The Other, JDrew looks to be in Ultimates: The End or whatever that Secret Wars biz is, at least going by the cover, so sorry, AlternaBen, you’re disposable. (If JDrew dies this retroactively becomes Scott’s Pick Of The Never How Dare You)
- Superior Foes of Spider-Man #17: GOODNIGHT, YOU PRINCES OF LAME, YOU KINGS OF NEW JERSEY.
- ODY-C #1: I’ve been ridiculously excited for this book since it was first announced, and I hope it doesn’t disappoint. Fraction’s creator-owned stuff can sometimes get a little weird for my taste — the amount I love Sex Criminals was the amount I was initially confused by Casanova — but the premise on this book is killer, and I’ve always had a soft spot for this story.
- New Avengers #27: HICKMAAAAAN.
- Superior Foes of Spider-Man #17: All good things must come to an end. On the one hand, I’m kind of glad they’re going out on top, having finished the story they set out to tell. On the other hand, I am gonna miss this book so damn much. Thankfully, the news of a Chip Zdarsky-penned Howard the Duck reassures me Marvel isn’t giving up on humour-based books anytime soon, but damn. Superior Foes of Spider-Man, we hardly knew ye.
- Superior Iron Man #2: Of all the AXIS-infused ongoings, I’m actually digging this one? I reserve the right to change my opinion, but the last issue was the first time I enjoyed an Iron Man book since Fraction yet, even with evil Tony.
